Advanced Vocational Training System (AVTS) is a project jointly launched by the Goverment of India, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and International Labour Organisation (ILO) in the year 1977. This scheme provides training programmes to raise the level of skills of industrial manpower leading to high productivity. The training programmes have been structured on modular basis, so that selection of modules according to the need can be made by the industries. The programmes planned are of short duration ranging from 2 to 6 weeks.
These Programmers have been well received by the industries as reflected in great and continuous response. So far till date under the scheme about 20,000 candidates deputed by about 100 industries have been trained.
