CRAFT INSTRUCTOR TRAINING

With the rapid
industralisation of the country, the demand for trained craftsmen has been on the
increase. In order to impart vocational training to craftsmen, trained instructors
is the first requisite. There are five Advanced Training Institutes (ATI's) and a Central
Training Institute (CTI) where Instructor Training is conducted. Advanced Training
Institute at Mumbai is one of them. The training is meant for instructors of ITI's/ITC's
and establiments imparting apprenticeship training.
1. FACILITIES : The Institute has well equipped workshops with modern
machines for imparting training to Craft Instructors in the country. The
latest techniques in teaching are imparted with the aid of AudioVisual Aids such as
Flims,Flim Strips, Charts and Models of all type.
2. THE OBJECTIVES OF THE
TRAINING :
a) To upgrade theoretical and practical knowledge in various trades.
b) To train instructors in the art of teaching in various trades.
3. DURATION OF COURSE : The training is of one year duration commencing from
1st August every year.
4. COURSE CONTENTS :
Besides, trade theory, trade practicals etc. instructions cover both theoretical and
practical aspects of the Principles and Techinques of Teaching, like preparing lesson
plans, give proper demonstrations, write job sheets and prepare their own training aids.
The Instructor trainee is provided an opportunity to learn allied trades.
5. ENTRANCE QUALIFICATIONS : Candidates who are matriculate and between 18-40 years
age and have passed a recognised DIPLOMA course in relevant branch of Engineering or
National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) course in the revelent trade or National Trade
Certificate with one year practical experience, are eligible for admission.
6. CERTIFICATE : Successful trainees are awarded Craft Instructor Certificate under the aegis of the National Council for Vocational Training, Government of India, Ministry of Labour.
7. RESERVATION : The candidates sponsored by the Director of States/Union Territories dealing with Cratfsmen Training, from affiliated ITIs/ITCs, Govenment of India undertaking & Industrial Organisations are admitted as per rule.
Private Candidates will be considered on MERIT BASIS ONLY, for the remaining seats after allocation to afore- mentioned Organisations.
Some seats are reserved for SC/ST/PH candidates subject to eligibility and availability of seats left after allotment to the government deputed candidates as per rule. SC/ST candidates should enclose attested copy of the Caste Certificate issued by Competent Authority.
8. ADMISSION PROCEDURE : Admissions for private candidates are made as per merit on the basis of marks awarded, as per norms fixed by DGE&T, for qualifications and experience. No Correspondence is entertained from the candidates whose applications are rejected.
9. HOW TO APPLY : Private candidtes desiring admission may apply in the prescribed Application Form to the Director,Advanced Training Institute V.N.Purave Marg, Sion, Mumbai - 400 022. The forms are available in the Institute by paying Rs. 25/- in cash or Demand Draft. Registration fee of Rs. 50/- is to be paid by the candidate along with application form. Fee can be paid in cash or by Demand Draft in favour of "Drawing & Disbursing officer, Advanced Training Institute, Sion, Mumbai" payable at Mumbai only & also enclose a self addressed unstamped envelope of size 11 cm x 25 cm. The Applicatin form can be downloaded and submitted with required fee (Rs.15) and documents without which applications will be rejected.An attested recent Passport size photograph must also be affixed on the application form in the space provided for the purpose.
No trainee shall apply/forward the application directly to DGE&T,HQ, New Delhi.
All heads of the Private affiliated ITI / ITCs may apply in prescribed form for each candidate to be deputed by them directly to the A.T.I. Sion, Mumbai keeping in view the trades which exist at this Institute.
10. OTHERS :The Director, ATI, Sion,Mumbai reserves the right to discontinue any trade at its discreation without assigning any reason and notice.
